FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Integrated Legal Practice Solutions Now Available in the Ontario Market

Toronto, May 12, 2009 - SpeedMatters™ announces the release of a suite of fully integrated law office solutions with practice area packages to suit the needs of Ontario law firms. SpeedMatters™ breaks from the pack by offering fully configured and supported practice management software solutions built upon industry-leading Time Matters®, HotDocs®, and PCLaw™ software from LexisNexis®. The initial offerings are SpeedMatters™ for Accident Benefits Claims, SpeedMatters™ for Small Claims and SpeedMatters™ for Real Estate. SpeedMatters™ for Estate Planning will be released in the coming months along with systems for other practice areas.

The majority of Canadian law firms serve a number of practice areas for their clients. Clients will commonly have a number of requirements throughout the course of their relationship with a law firm. These may include real estate transactions, wills and estate planning, family law or criminal law issues. Unfortunately, product offerings in the Canadian legal market have historically been closed proprietary systems, meaning that a single firm may often have a number of different systems – all working independently of each other and of their billing and accounting system. Significant inefficiencies, higher costs, and impaired client service result from having these silos. But all of that changes with SpeedMatters™ legal practice solutions.

Developed by a team of LexisNexis® Premier Authorized Practice Management Certified Independent Consultants, lawyers, accountants and IT experts, SpeedMatters™ offers the ultimate in fully integrated practice management tools. SpeedMatters™ is built upon LexisNexis® Time Matters® practice management, LexisNexis® HotDocs® document automation, and LexisNexis® PCLaw™ billing and accounting software – all “best of breed” software systems that legal professionals already know and trust.

“We are excited to bring the SpeedMatters™ solutions to market, which have been built for law firms looking to lower operating costs and achieve a competitive advantage,” says Doug Simpson LLB, CEO of Legal Systematics, Inc., one of the partners of SpeedMatters™. “We believe that integrating accounting, case management and document automation software, combined with practice area-specific features and content, creates more than the sum of its parts.”

According to Paul Mand, Barrister & Solicitor of Paul Mand Lawyers and responsible for content of SpeedMatters™ for Real Estate, “As law firms, we need to operate with our clients and their legal matters as the center of our universe, regardless of practice area, or who in the firm is doing what particular work. Law office systems should reflect this and with SpeedMatters™, they now do.”

Matt Stone LLB, of 7Second System, another partner in SpeedMatters™ states that, “In creating SpeedMatters™ our team has leveraged our shared knowledge from hundreds of practice management and document automation projects with thousands of users into turn-key law office software solutions that staff and lawyers will actually use. We have taken the best products in the market, integrated them together, automated the routine documents, and tailored them to be the best solutions available by practice area and certainly firm-wide.”

Paul Mand LLB goes on to describe how SpeedMatters™ works at his firm. “Using the SpeedMatters™ system, we open the client file in LexisNexis® PCLaw™, our billing and accounting software. Client and matter information is automatically pulled into our Time Matters® practice management software, which we use to keep track of file information such as all documents, emails, notes, To-Dos, appointments, and the file work such as management of requests, undertakings, delegated tasks, filings, etc. I can look at one screen and see all key metrics for that matter; for instance, File opened, Retainer signed, Discoveries, Pre-Trial Date, Trial Date, etc.”

Paul explains that, “to produce any of our routine documents pre-populated with client, matter and file particulars, such as a signature ready OCF form for motor vehicle accident benefits claims, or complete closing document sets for real-estate such as Statements of Adjustments, purchase, sale or mortgage documents, funds summaries and compliance letters we just hit a button and they appear in Microsoft® Word® filled in with all information and calculations. This is accomplished using LexisNexis® HotDocs®. If additional file information is required, the user is walked through a simple dialog, which asks only for the particular information needed. The SpeedMatters™ system integrates with the Microsoft® Office suite, Microsoft® Outlook®, Word and Adobe Acrobat® or Adobe Reader® as well as the range of mobile devices, such as the BlackBerry®.”

Overall, Paul Mand believes that, “SpeedMatters™ has had a tremendous impact on my practice - less work is required to handle more matters. It makes us much more efficient than we were in the past. We never have to re-key data or hunt for file information, and we work as a cohesive team as opposed to different practice groups sharing office space. Because we all use the same tools, staff can comfortably work across practice areas, and our clients are better served as a result.”
